Welcome to DIY Thursday! Today I will show you how I used vinyl to personalize a neglected space in our home. Here is what you will need!
-EAD Designs Established Sign
-A blank wall
That's it! That is all that you will need for this one, folks! I want to try to do a few posts about projects you can do with just your walls and vinyl, a little more simple. For this project, there is a little piece of wall right above out basement door that I have always wanted to do something with. Exhibit A:
And you might as well meet my project manager now. She fonud her way into quite a few of these pictures. (Little tiny ears at the bottom of the picture above^)
Also please ignore the fact tha I have not put away the Christmas oven mitts yet. Oops!
Now the space is not big, just your standard area above a doorway. But it is the first thing that you see when you walk into our house from the carport, which we always do and most of our friends and family do as well.
So I found this super cute established sign at EAD and decided that it was just the right thing!
I ordered it in metallic bronze. Initially I wanted to put it outside which is why I chose the color, but I love it in the kitchen too! I simply peeled off the backing:
And I shut the basement door so that I would not accidentally fall down the stairs. It probably would have happened.
And then I gently stuck the top corners of the transfer paper to the wall to help me center it before I rubbed it all the way stuck.
Once I decided it was in the right place and straight (this is very important!) I simple applied even pressure and then rubbed it with a stick to transfer it to the wall.
Once secure, I very carefully peeled the transfer paper off.
And there you have it, easy peasy!
I love the way that it looks from the kitchen table too.
This is the new view when you walk into our house from the carport.
Or more realistically this is the view. We keep the litter box in the basement so the door stays open!
And there you have it. About 5 minutes tops. It is the easiest way to dress up your walls! Be on the lookout for more projects like this. I am full of creative ideas to make nekked walls look gorgeous!
