Welcome to DIY Thursday! The project that I have to share this week is near and dear to me. I completed out living room makeover with it!
Here is what you will need:
-A blank wall space (Above a mantle is appropriate!)
-A Quote or Verse that you love from the EAD Designs Design Center
I personally LOVE that EAD Designs has a Design Center where you can create custom vinyl that fits your style and your home. If you have never used it, it is so easy! You simply enter the text that you want and then choose your fonts and colors. And the pricing is amazing for custom vinyl work!
When we bought our house, there was a verse above the mantle that we loved. It was the biggest thing holding us back from painting the walls, we did not want the cost of replacing the verse that we loved. Well once I discovered the design center, that was all it took. We peeled that sucker off and painted. Here is the most updated version of our living room.
See the big empty space above the frame? It made me sad because our family verse is no longer there.
I logged onto the EAD Design Center and typed out our verse (Joshua 24:15 in case you don't appreciate my vagueness!) and chose the font and colors that fit our style. When it came in the mail I literally squealed!
To get an idea of placement, I layed the vinyl on the floor and centered it in front of the mantle.
Then I decided that was pointless and I gently folded it in half, marking the center with my finger.
I had some concerns that I would not be able to get the whole thing straight the first time, and since it was about 4 feet long I decided to carefully (So as not to cut the vinyl itself) Cut the backing in the middle.
Here is what it looked like once I peeled off half of the backing. This allowed we to focus on half of the length without worrying about the other half just yet.
I stuck the first half on as straight as I could and smoothed it to the wall. Then I got down to let the blood rush back to my fingers.
I peeled off the other half and smoothed that to the wall. MUCH easier to get it straight this way!
Next I peeled off the transfer paper strip that housed the "overlay" text, which was my verse reference. I was very careful to rub the vinyl to the wall as I peeled since the letters are tiny.
Once this was done, I started to peel the transfer paper at the top left corner of my verse. It is helpful to pull the transfer paper taught against the wall, as it helps the vinyl to release from it.
Here is the finished product once the paper was all removed!
It feels so good to have the verse back! It makes the room feel complete.
This was such an easy project. It took maybe 10 minutes max and transformed the room!
Now that you have seen the design center and what you can do with it, go and make something that fits your family!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I can’t wait to get my walls painted so I can vinylize my house. AWESOME quote too! TFS!
love it!!
You never fail to impress me with your many ideas. Thanks for posting.
